I haven’t known Wendy very long. We met online, through FET, after I saw a posting of hers looking to connect with some of her peers while visiting Vancouver. Intrigued I read her profile I thought she was a fascinating lady and I had to meet her. It took no time to realize she is one of the coolest and bravest lady I’ve ever met.
Most of us, by the time we reach our 70s, are thinking about slowing down. Wendy looked at her seventh decade and thought: What’s next?
She shared this crazy idea she had with her husband of forty years, when she said she wanted to change careers and he simply said, “Go for it.”
What came next was a complete reinvention. Wendy decided to train as a Somatic and Intimacy Educator and a professional Surrogate Partner. She dove into rigorous, specialized training programs, she was a woman on a mission.
She immersed herself in understanding how the body holds trauma and how intentional, sacred touch can release it. She learned how to hold space for people who have never felt safe in their own skin.
She did all of this in her 70s. Wendy is proof that it is never, ever too late.
She did a lot of training, some quite pricey. When Wendy chose this path, despite the unconditional love and support of her husband and family, she saw several of her life long friends distance themselves because of the nature of the work itself. Her profession is so misunderstood, so stigmatized.
Wendy is the definition of integrity: to know the cost, to pay it, and to continue showing up for the people who need you.
She is based in Winnipeg and on her website, wendyscheirich.com, Wendy leads with a simple, profound statement: “Pleasure is Healing.”
That phrase is so perfectly Wendy. She isn’t afraid to talk about intimacy, connection, or the body’s ability to recover from trauma. She helps people heal the “rough edges” of their past, as one client put it, and move forward with genuine confidence.
She doesn’t just talk about healing; she creates a sacred space for it. Reading the testimonials on her site gave me chills. One client wrote:
“You truly work from your heart and that’s what was most healing for me. I’m very grateful for all of your help and sacred energy.”
Wendy is “vibrant” not because she’s loud, but because she’s fully present. She’s “cool” not because she follows trends, but because she sets a standard for authenticity and integrity.
That’s my friend. That’s Wendy.
